The prestigious German news magazine, Der Spiegel, publishes an annual historical supplement to their regular magazine. The 2024 supplement, “Deutschland und die USA,” highlighted the 250 year relationship of Germany to the USA. It includes an article, p. 122-130, by Jasmin Lörchner on Texas Germans titled, “Mit ‘Howdy’ grüssen, Brahms singen. Ms Lörchner interviewed me, Dr Hans Boas of the Department of Germanic Studies at the University of Texas, and David Huenlich, a former graduate student at UT with whom I have worked closely and who is now associated with the University of Osnabrück in Germany. We are all quoted extensively in the article.
